About this Event
Kyla Hallums (Nashville, TN) and Tina Cavicchio (Boston, MA) are bringing you some fusion fire with a 2 hour workshop set. We both love really listening to the music when we dance and bringing in our own flavor to a dance without disrupting the connection. We will show you how, first a body movement workshop and then a partner work workshop with a little flare.

Schedule:
2:30- 3:30 Urban Bachata Movement
How do we LOOK good when we social dance? How do we make our social dancing more fluid? How do we lead sensual bachata? By understanding our bodies. We do that by practicing our own footwork and body movement. Kyla and Tina love all types of dance and we are going to do some footwork with an urban flare to help us with our social dancing.
3:30-4:30 Partnerwork- Sensual/Urban Fusion
How do we add flavor to our social dancing without disrupting the connection? How can we alter our movements to match the music? Kyla and Tina will teach an upbeat partner work class where you’ll be able to add sharpness, smoothness, and your own flare to your partner work.

TIna's Bio:
Growing up in two musical households, Tina fell in love with dance very quickly. She started at the age of 2 with ballet and tap, then moved on to jazz in later years. With her father being a ballroom dance entertainer, she was exposed to partner dancing early on. She started dancing ballroom at age 11, training specifically in mambo. Eventually Tina found herself in a Latin club and completely fell in love. She directed Alma Boston’s bachata team for 5 seasons, travels the country performing and teaching, and continues to train in all forms of dance including ballet, jazz, contemporary, hip hop, modern, Latin, and African dancing. As a queer female lead and follow, she has become a major advocate for individual empowerment and expression. Her goals are to give her students the technical foundation needed, so that they can explore their individual creativity. As a dancer she is known for her passion and energy as a performer, connection in social dancing, pushing the limits of Latin dance in her choreography, and always being a student.
Kyla's Bio:
After undergoing open heart surgery at 20 years old Kyla Hallums knew that it was time to try some new things. Some things that made her heart soar. She found that in Latin dancing. Kyla felt the music from day one. Growing up, Kyla’s father was a musician. Kyla became a singer before she was a dancer. This is why every follow she leads mentions her incredible musicality! Kyla has an innate sense of where the music is going, and conveys that to her partners with ease. One of Kyla’s missions is to inspire body positivity through dance. You will walk away from her classes learning some fun dance moves, feeling amazing about your body, and her kind spirit will warm your heart.
