Tipica Tango Workshop & Practica Thursday 12 July 2018 8pm – 10.30pm £20 St George’s Hall, Court Farm Road Hove From Argentina to Brighton! A rare chance to work with renowned tango dancer, teacher and professor Natacha Muriel (https://www.natachamuriel.com/tango-dance), and her partner Lucas Magalhaes, who together run the Tipica Tango school and performance company who perform and teach throughout Argentina and Brazil. The workshop and practica is open to all levels. Drawing on Natacha’s vast knowledge of the history of tango over the past 100 years (she holds a doctorate in tango!), and their experience together as dancers and teachers, the couple will use this knowledge and experience to explore fundamental topics in improvised tango such as connection, dissociation, and the ‘elastic embrace’. They will also draw on the notation system of the H, L and V tango positions, exploring moves that have become fashionable at different stages of tango’s history and development. Above all the evening will be fun and instructive! The workshop will run 8pm to 9.30pm, followed by a practica – a chance to hone your skills. This is a rare opportunity to work with two of South America’s top dancers and teachers, and pre-booking is essential.
