Join dj Kai Altair of Aazav and your ED community for a lush musical journey of the soul that will get your body moving, July 19, 7-9 pm! The Ecstatic Dance musical journey starts slowly for stretching and gradually quickens - taking you on a rhythmic wave where you’ll dance hard and sweat, slowing down again, ending with a sound bath and short meditation. Kai Altair is a songwriter, producer, and DJ with a deep reverence for movement, rhythm, and spiritual exploration. Her musical project is Aazav created with her partner Haj i Ji. Drawing inspiration from mystical traditions, nature's rhythms, and cosmic energies--Kai's DJ sets are a journey into realms of worldly organica, sensual bass, big boom, and astral wubs. Kai curates sets that invite dancers to connect with their bodies, spirits, and each other. Drawing from ancestral vocal traditions and deep woods sensibilities, their sound is a convergence of medicine melodies and global organica—a call to the central fire of remembered futures. Their 2019 debut album, "The Looking Stone," garnered support with stellar remixes from collaborators like David Starfire, Govinda, Kaminanda, Drumspyder, and Living Light. In 2022, Aazav unveiled "Temple of The Heart," an ode to love's mysteries and journeys through etheric realms. This sonic prayer anticipates the dancefloors of tomorrow. The duo travel together & apart--bringing solo & tag team sets to the open road. Haj showcased his DJ prowess at Kalani in Hawaii and a successful East Coast tour, including a memorable stop with Ecstatic Dance NYC. In spring of 2024 Aazav & Kai Altiar toured ecstatic dance communities from Portland to Philadelphia, Santa Barbara to Salt Lake City. Currently crafting a dancefloor-focused EP with gifted collaborators, they also host SANCTUM, an intentional temple space gathering at Soft Medicine in Sebastopol, California.
