About this Event
On November 21, 2019, The Lindy Lab will host the second ever Triangle Intercollegiate Swing Dance Competition and invite undergraduate students from the Triangle and beyond to compete! We'll host a mix and match format competition, with leaders and followers randomly paired together, with prelims at 8:30 p.m. and finals at 9:30 p.m. If you are planning on competing, plan to arrive between 8:00 p.m. and 8:25 p.m. to register for the competition and pick up your number. The competition is free to enter - show up, get a number, compete, and have fun!
Both prelims and finals will be done to DJ'ed music. Finals will be an all skate warmup, a spotlight, and a final all skate. Winners get a trophy and bragging rights until we have another competition. ;)
If you're not competing, never fear! There will be plenty of social dance time, starting at 8 p.m. and the prelims will be held in the studio next door so the main room will have continuous dancing from 8:00 to 9:30 p.m. and after the competition until 10:30 p.m.
We'll also have a Beginner Collegiate Shag Lesson with Eliza Biehl and John Rowe from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.! Facebook invite to lesson here: https://www.facebook.com/events/416437165909740/
This is the third and final event in our College Month series at The Lindy Lab - the first is a Rent Party dance with South Road Swing (https://www.facebook.com/events/2418888375000794/?ref=br_rs) on November 7 and the second is a dance sponsored by Duke Swing on November 14 at the Rubenstein Arts Center from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. featuring the Mint Julep Jazz Band.
