Join us for Tuesday Blues at the beautiful Hoku Events on Madison! 2 hour block of live music followed by 1 hour with some of your favorite Blues DJs each week. May 5th also celebrates Cinco de Mayo with special guests Queer Baile PDX! The new lesson theme is “Mix it up May” with a different focus each week, starting off with Latin Blues. Host: Robert 7:00- All levels Blues dance class with Brenda Russell - Latin Blues 8:00- Live music with Karen Maria, Edwin Coleman, JT & Jonah Bradbury 9:00- Cumbia lesson with Queer Baile PDX! 9:20- POC/Queer blues jam with Karen Maria, Edwin Coleman, JT & Jonah Bradbury 10:00- DJ: visiting guest DJ Moses from Colorado! (Blues & Jazzaroake returns in June) Masks encouraged, provided, and appreciated! Currently 21+ $0- $20 Sliding Scale Admission Volunteer opportunities available No one turned away for lack of funds Tuesday Blues is a weekly social partner dance event in Portland established in 2003. Portland Blues & Jazz Dance Society is a non-profit dedicated to dance education, supporting live blues music and creating a joy-filled community for dance and music lovers. Blues dance is an umbrella term for the folk dances of Black Americans done to Blues music. Learn to blues dance, and you’ll experience music more fully, discover new ways to connect with fellow blues lovers, and join a fun worldwide community of social dancers!
