Picnics welcome! The 20th Annual Chicago SummerDance is a summertime favorite. Chicago blossoms into an open-air dance space, with people of all ages learning everything from Swing and Cha-Cha to Steppin' and West African Dance. Come for the dancing and FREE instructional lessons, or simply sit back and enjoy the music. Salsa lessons provided by Denita Inez with May I Have This Dance. Samuel del Real is a well known Latin pianist, bandleader, arranger and educator born in Barranquilla Colombia and has resided for more than a decade in the city of Chicago. He was pianist of Dimension Latina and Trabuco Venezolano and participated in an array of recording productions in Caracas Venezuela. In 1983, he recorded his first album with his own band. His first hit “Ella No Baila Sola” became the theme song in every night club of Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, Panama, and USA, among others countries. In 1985, Samuel moved to the United States, Chicago, where he rapidly formed his orchestra with members of different nationalities giving a blended sound to his music. Since then, Samuel del Real and his orchestra have played in many festivals, concerts, private events in cities such as Chicago, London, New York, Minneapolis, St Paul, Detroit, Indianapolis, Miami and others. “Piano Caliente” and “Piano Jamboree” are the most recent albums that include selections from his extensive Latin Jazz repertoire as well as fresh interpretations of Afro Cuban classics on his exciting Piano Caliente album. It is not only salsa but his Latin Jazz inclination that surprises even those who know him. It does not take much to realize that SAMUEL is “ El Maestro del Buen Ritmo” and that his music is here to stay.
