About this Event

We are excited to bring these two amazing Urban Kiz instructors to Saskatoon! You will not want to miss this event! Not sure what Urban Kiz is? It is a style of Kizomba gaining popularity in North America, that is very musical and playful! Do you live out of town? Our goal is to be able to provide free accommodation for all people from out-of-town (beds, air mattresses and couches, if necessary). First takers get priority for beds! • All workshop tickets include access to the three evenings of socials • Beginner workshops = 4 hours and will provide excellent foundations for all levels of dancer • Improver workshops = 4.5 hours, must have some Urban Kiz experience. If you are an improver, we strongly recommend you sign up for the full Workshop Pass, as Rina and Derrick’s ability to solidify foundational skills is amazing and will take your dance to the next level! • Full workshop passes = all Beginner and Improver workshops = 8.5 hours • Some urban kiz experience is required for Improver and Full Workshop Passes. Minimally, you should have done a full Beginner session with SasKiz or the Charles Ogar Workshops in November 2018 (or other Urban Kiz training). Not sure if you are ready to level up? Just send us a quick message! —————————————————————— Schedule: Friday night: Warm-up party @ The Feisty Goat (3730 Deifenbaker Drive) - 9 pm to 1 am with a mix of Music by DJ Leo Liendo with a mix of urban kiz/kizomba, bachata and salsa. $5 cover with free entrance to workshop pass holders! Her unique style in Kizomba fusion allows her to be an extremely adaptable dancer. With 3 years of teaching, she continues to train and refine her craft by learning from her mentors Laurent Yishu, Marc Brewer, and Eddy Vents. She teaches by breaking down complex movements into parts easily understood by her students. Passionate about every students' growth, she helps guide them to their individual goals. On the dance floor, she is vibrant with energy and has the ability to create a special atmosphere with her partners. Derrick Wright is a student of Dallas. Though he has done the majority of his in class learning from Pamelita and Audi MPK, he started his kizomba journey learning from as many instructors as he could in the area including this last years’ Olympiads winner Shika Jay and Samy Vez. As a result, he has formed a style, flow, and musicality unique to him. His hunger has continued on as he began traveling and attending so many freaking classes and as many workshops as he could. Derrick brings his smooth moves in every genre of dance including Urban, kizomba, fusion, semba, tarraxo, and tarraxinha. This man doesn’t leave the dance floor except to take his 20 minute naps. Not only is Derrick a wonderful and well rounded dancer but he’s also an amazing instructor. With background as a school teacher, he has a solid pedagogy and foundational understanding of how to reach students. He’s been able to travel and teach some in the US and has become MPKs teaching assistant in his hometown of Dallas.
