Urban Kiz with Sonny and Edu

Oxford University Salsa Society presents: 🔺🔺Urban Kiz with Sonny & Edu - classes & party🔺🔺 Term weeks 2, 4, 6, 8 Students and Non-students are welcome! We bring nobody less than Sonny Varela - the UK Kizomba Champion 2015/16, and 3rd World Kizomba Champions at Africadancar 2015 international Kizomba competition – to Oxford to teach Urban Kiz & Urban Tarraxa with Edu. Sonny has a long experience in the dancing scene and in teaching, together with Edu, they have great knowledge & energy to bring to us. Classes start at indicated times sharp!!! 🔹7pm - 8pm: Beginners / Fundamentals 🔹8pm - 9pm: Improvers / Routines No partner needed but couples are welcome. Kizomba originated from Portuguese African speaking countries such as Angola, Cape Verde, São Tomé, Guinée Bissau. Its evolution to Urban Kiz happened mainly in France a few years ago. Urban Kiz music includes elements from HipHop, R&B, Dubstep and electronic, and lots of instrumental music. The dance to the new music type is still evolving with each teacher having their own style in which they can include elements from Tango, Hip Hop, Bachata, and Zouk and many more. Urban Kiz is characterised by changes in the tempo ranging from slow transitions, accelerations to blocks mixed with turns and tricks such as feinted steps and leg displacements. An Urban Kiz sub-style called "Urban Tarraxa" recently gained great popularity which is focused on the interpretation of the musical elements by isolation of the hip and micro-movements of the upper part of the body.
