Urbanity Zouk Auditions

Join Urbanity’s Zouk teams for their new 2020 choreographies! We are looking for hard-working, positive, team players who are ready to invest in learning and perfecting Zouk at both the social-dancing level and performance level. Dancers who are Beginner-Advance level in Zouk OR are intermediate-advance dancers in other genres are preferred. If you don't feel you fall into any of those categories, but you have the drive to learn/train, we still encourage you to audition!! The Co-Ed Team’s purpose is to create proficient social dancers through entertaining performance routines. These routines are multi-level, featuring sections of Beginner, Intermediate, and Advance-level content. With this format, dancers can participate in performances comfortably at their individual skill level while still having opportunities to train and be “promoted” into the higher-level sections throughout the season. Aside from learning choreography, training concepts will include lead/follow connection, repertoire-building, precision in pattern execution, and jack & jill training. The Femme Styling Team’s purpose is to refine and expand dancers’ solo movement, technique, styling, and performance quality also through entertaining performance routines. Although this team is all-levels, choreography is created with the Intermediate dancer in mind and will contain opportunities for solos or highlight sections in order to challenge all levels of dancers. Aside from learning choreography, training concepts will include improvement of balance & weight transfer, body movement articulation, use of different energy & power levels in movement, body expression and dancer presence. Both the Femme Styling & Co-Ed Team are open to ALL. Dancers may audition as any role they identify with. Co-Ed Team Auditions: Tuesday, February 25th, from 8:30-10:00 Femme Styling Team Auditions: Thursday, February 27th, from 8:30-10:00 Both Auditions will include a warm-up and choreography sequence.
