About this Event

June 2: 10-3 pm June 3rd: 6-9 pm In this course, we study and explore the fundamentals of walking and how this foundation leads us into effortless dance. Understanding the functional anatomy of the feet gives us a foundation for our entire body. Biomechanically aligned walking supports healthy spine and posture and is key to rehabilitating chronic pain conditions. Biomechanically aligned walking massages our internal organs and supports heart, lung and digestive health. This course is especially recommended for people who experience chronic pain in their body and want to move freely with joy again. Walking is the foundation for dancing and an embodied metaphor for moving forward in life. How you walk is how you feel about life! Let’s investigate our metaphors for approaching challenges, deconstructing and deconstructing our mind-body patterns. We will use: - Somatic Movement - Functional Anatomy - Biomechanics of Movement - Primal Movement Strategies We cover the basic fundamentals of walking: Foot and Spine Fundamentals Releasing the Hip System Weight shifting and Spinal Compensations What to bring: Wear comfortable clothes that will allow you to dance, many layers, socks, blanket or yoga mat, notebook and any writing and drawing implements that you will like to use.
