WCS Intermediate December Final Edition

I had a vision once that I would create a system allowing dancers to grow from Newcomer all the way to Allstar. I made it halfway there, and I’m hoping you all will carry the journey forward. This December will be my final month teaching in Seattle, and I’ll be teaching my last Intermediate classes. These classes will focus on what I value most in West Coast Swing and what I’ve been trying to give to this community. For these final classes, I will allow drop-ins. Each class is 90 minutes, and you may join all three or come to individual sessions. The cost is $30 per class. If you are adv or higher and want to come dance your role, you may join the class for free. If you are a lower-level dancer and want to observe the class, you’re welcome to do so as well. Rhythm: Dec 9th, 25 We’ll explore the different types of rhythm in our dance and emphasize the true heartbeat of West Coast Swing. So many of us let rhythm slip away and substitute it with moves or styling. My belief is that none of the extras mean anything unless they live within the timing and rhythm of the music. Connection Dec: 16th, 25 We’ll focus on the connection of this dance — the oppositional energy, the conversations we get to have, and the ways we communicate. We’ll go over the foundational forms of connection: visual, physical, and vibe-based. Character: Dec 23rd, 25 This is the final and most important part of what makes West Coast Swing. It’s understanding how this dance evolved and the pieces we took to make it what it is now. In this class we’ll explore different timelines and finish with the last one — the “now.” These will be my final classes in Seattle, and then I will depart for the next part of my life.
