Welcome to NI, AHswing! If you haven't heard the news, Andrew Shellard & Hailee Lopez are two professional, All Star level West Coast Swing instructors from France and America. They spend their time teaching, competing in, performing, and growing WCS worldwide at local and international events. Recently, Andrew and Hailee packed their bags and settled down in Belfast to inspire us all to dance by teaching local classes, one on one intensive coaching, social nights, and more. As the only professional level WCS dancers in the country, they hope to give their time, extensive knowledge, and high energy to bring the very best parts of WCS to our wee community, making WCS a huge and loved part of our culture. Awesome! With that being said, there's no better way to show them our love and support than doin' it like proper Norn Irish: Party! Here are the series of events: Saturday, July 30th // DAYTIME // 1:00-2:30 = "The FUNdamentals Of WCS" (£10) *This workshop is geared towards beginner level dancers, who have some knowledge of West Coast Swing and an idea of the basic movements. This workshop will go over the basics, and add in some fun ways of expanding your dance knowledge and creativity. (NOTE: If you have NOT learned a WCS basic before, you may prefer to attend the 7pm "Hi, It's My First Time!" class later that day. However, we welcome any and all beginners to both classes.) 3:00-4:30 = "Moves, Moves, Moves..." (£10) *This workshop is geared towards intermediate level dancers, who have some knowledge of connection, lead and follow, and the basic movements of WCS. This workshop will expand your pattern and musicality knowledge, creating a challenging and encouraging class where you can build your skills and confidence on the floor! Don't miss this informative and artistic lesson, Westies! **We will break for dinner and relaxation time from 4:30-7:00!** // EVENING // 7:00-7:45 = "Hi, It's My First Time!" (£5) *This workshop is exactly what it sounds like: your first WCS class! This class will cover the basics from the ground up, giving you all the tools you need to start your WCS journey. No experience needed, any and everyone is welcome! 8:00-9:00 = "Men VS Women: Just For Fun!" (£5) *NO prior dance experience needed, ALL levels and dancers of ANY style are welcome to attend this class! Male and Female styling happens in every social dance.. although the class content as a whole is a surprise, you definitely won't want to miss this opportunity to learn a fun, easy, and popular combination of individual dance moves to take to any social night for any style of dance! 9:00-Midnight = "Mixed Social Night // Demos!" (£5) *To finish off this crazy awesome dance day, DJ Halo and DJ Shelly (Hailee + Andrew) will be playing jams that both WCS and Modern Jive can be danced to! Not only are they excited to dance with YOU, but they will also be giving us a taste of what they love to do together by dancing a couple of freestyle demonstrations for us! 3 hours of social dancing, mixed music to bring multiple kinds of dancers together, and a show. You are more than welcome to take one or two classes, and join us for the party, paying individually as you go along. However, we also offer a "Day Pass" into any and all activities.
