Special 3 Week Workshop Seminar with Bobby White & Akemi Kinukawa Tuesday’s January 7th, 14th, 21st (PART I) Tuesday’s February 11th, 18th, 25th (PART II) 6:30p-7:30p Level 3+ (students must be comfortable with 6-count and 8-count patterns, Intermediate +/advanced; all dancers should wear comfortable shoes that have both pivot and grip, and clothes they can sweat in.) Dive into the techniques and styling of the greatest pioneers of Lindy Hop performance. Champion dancers and seasoned performers Bobby and Akemi will focus on concepts and choices the Whitey’s made that work great for high-speed dancing and jamming. Both Part I and Part II will be three classes each, and both parts will cover a lot of different material from each other. Each part will contain fundamental movement and moves, a Whitey’s Charleston pattern, and a simple, small optional Air Step that will teach the basics of safe and powerful flying. Though both Part I and II are meant to be companions, it is not necessary to do one in order to do the other. Akemi Kinukawa teaches dance throughout the boroughs of New York and has performed at Jazz at Lincoln Center. She is the founder of Project Connect, a charitable swing dance performance company.
