About this Event
Join a worldwide movement, involving 30+ countries and 100+ cities, to promote the dance style you love: Brazilian Zouk.
The International Zouk Flash Mob (IZFM) was first launched in 2012 to celebrate the International Day of Peace and to promote Brazilian Zouk on a global scale.
Passes for the lessons to learn the choreography are now available: https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/william-paloma-zouk-flash-mob-choreography-training-brisbane-tickets-47610157262
IZFM was coordinated in Brisbane by James Quinn-Hawtin for 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015. In 2014 we had a massive 136 Brisbane Zoukers flashmobbing unsuspecting Brisbane crowds, making us the single largest group in the world that year.
This year my favourite Zouk dancers, William and Paloma, are choreographing a routine for this year's IZFM so I have decided to teach the flash mob again this year. (See William and Paloma dancing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DfhRHnEAbak)
The song has also been remixed by another favourite, DJ Kakah.
Everyone is welcome from all schools/groups. You do not need to be one of my existing students and you'll also notice that I'm not running this under my school's name.
With 8 years of Zouk instructing experience, I will teach you step by step exactly what to do and we will have plenty of time for practice before the big day. Mistakes will be made during the performance and that's all part of the fun :)
You do not need to have a partner when you sign up. We will do our absolute best to partner up everyone by week 4 of our training.
We will have six 2-hour sessions. We will skip the weekend of DouDouLe Latin Dance Festival at the Gold Coast.

** Flash Mob Performances: **
Saturday 15th September 2018 within the Brisbane South Bank and CBD area - Schedule and locations to be confirmed
** Training location: **
Training will be held in an air-conditioned studio at The Works, 19 Burke St, Woolloongabba. Plenty of parking on Burke Street and the studio is within 5 minutes walk of the train station.
** Is it for me? **
If you have any Zouk experience at all, and can follow instructions, you'll be able to keep up with the training.
All dancers, of all levels, regardless of school/group affiliation are welcome to join this training. I am not running this under my school's name.
** What if I don't have a dance partner? **
There will be plenty of others without dance partners. Hopefully the ratio is fairly even and we'll then do our best to partner everyone up. During the first few weeks we will rotate partners as we learn the routine.
** What does the choreography look like? What is the song? **
You can find the choreography on the following page. There are four in total. The one we will be learning and performing is the "RioZouk" choreography by William & Paloma: http://internationalzouk.com/izd-2018-choreos/
