Winter SOULstice Holiday Swing & Soul Dance Party

✨To close out The 9:20 Special in 2019, we are hosting our annual Swing & Soul Holiday Party (and we have a special guest instructor!!)✨ ✨Join DJ Manu Smith for a night filled with your favorites - The Temptations, Stevie Wonder, The Supremes, Marvin Gaye, The Dells, Solomon Burke, The Isley Brothers, The Jackson 5, Mary Wells...OK, you get the point.✨ Dress to impress! As usual, sequins encouraged. ;-) We have an extra special night of classes for you... Prior to the dance party, we're thrilled and honored to have Todd Yannacone visiting from New Orleans (originally from SF!) and teaching two classes. 💃🏻7:20pm - Lindy Hop Footwork Todd is known for his fancy footwork. His variations and rhythms set him apart from other dancers and allows him to connect to the music in unique ways. Join him for this footwork variation class to learn a few of his favorite footwork variation techniques. 💃🏻8:30pm - Intro to Carolina Shag This may not be the Shag you're used to. It's quite the opposite of the high energy, high knees Collegiate Shag many of you are familiar with. Carolina Shag is much smoother and is great for dancing to slower tempos including Soul music. Todd regularly draws on Carolina Shag as inspiration for his social dancing in Lindy Hop and loves to share it with others who are also looking for inspiration and to expand their partner dancing repertoire. REGISTRATION Both classes allow for drop-ins Register and pay at the door - arrive early to avoid a line! $20 for one class / $30 for both Pre-req: You need to have been dancing and taking classes for at least 7 months (anywhere - not just at The 9:20) and social dancing fairly consistently 1-2 times per week. If you're already signed up for the Level 3 or Special Topics series, this 3rd week is included. You can add-on the 2nd class for $10. We're lucky enough to have internationally renowned Todd Yannacone visiting and who will be teaching our Level 3 and our Special Topics classes. 💃🏻9:30pm-10:00pm Drop-in Taster Class - for beginners! Included in the price of admission (no partner necessary, learn the basics to get yourself having fun on the dance floor!) 💃🏻9:30pm-12:00am Social dance Our Level 1 and 2 classes will be happening as usual on this night - it will be the last class of the December series. ✨Dance party: $9 ($7 full-time student, senior 60+, military) This will be the last 9:20 Special of 2019 since we'll be closed the following two weeks, 12/26 and 1/2. We'll be back in full swing on January 9th, 2020!
