About this Event

Women’s Jam 🌷 Spring Session This contact improvisation (CI) jam is intended as a space for those who were born in female bodies, regardless of gender expression. In this space, we will explore the resonance of our bodies and how they connect us to each other. This space offers an opportunity to explore the dance without the presence of the dynamics that can emerge in CI spaces that include all genders. While we honor the beauty and opportunity of these dynamics, we are curious to support and explore what we can create in the absence of them. In coming together in an open movement space, can we offer healing to the places we have experienced pain within these tender relational spaces? Can we let our systems relax and soften together? Can we support one another’s grace and empowerment? Hosted by Chaya Aronson and Meta Bobbe (and perhaps some guests), this is an open form jam space, not a workshop, with invitations and scores to support the experience. Details: Second Monday of the month, April - June with the intention of beginning again in September Next Jam Date: Monday May 13th, 2024 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm 💃Neige Christenson will facilitate this one! 🎶Faith will once again make a playlist! 🌱Seed for this months jam is what is alive for us around mothering? We will have a brief opening circle at 7:30 pm and a brief closing circle with clear start and end times. Karuna Center for Yoga and Healing Arts 25 Main Street, 3rd floor Northampton MA $30 - $15 suggested donation Why a women's affinity space? We support and advocate for affinity spaces of all kinds. By creating a specific space for women and people born with wombs, we acknowledge that excludes trans-women. We honor all ways of identifying along the gender and sexuality spectrum, AND that women born with wombs and trans-women have different lived experiences inside of our bodies. At a moment in time when women’s reproduction rights are being reversed to 1860 in some states, and access to abortion and IVF is being affected in many states, it feels especially important to create an affinity space for women / people born with wombs to have a space to be in embodiment and community. We apologize for any hurt feelings this may create to trans-women or anyone else. We are grateful and looking forward to participating in and supporting the Queer Femme Jam that is emerging concurrently, and see the beauty, magic and synchronicity inside of the fact that both of these spaces have emerged at the same time.
