Join us for Beginner and Intermediate Swing Dance Classes! Sunday nights, 11 Sep- 23 Oct 2022 * Tuition is $125 per person for each 7-Week Session (Beginner or Intermediate); no partner required. Class Schedule: Beginner Class - 6-7 PM DJ Dance (and practice time) - 7-7:30 PM Intermediate Class - 7:30-8:30 PM Learn the essentials! Our beginner class series takes you through the basics of swing: six-count, eight-count Lindy Whip and Circle, and both side-by-side and Back Charleston. We focus primarily on teaching Social Lindy Hop moves as well as putting it all together. After you come to the first class, you will be able to practice in the other large classroom. The wooden floors (spring loaded), spacious rooms, high ceilings, great location, nice sound system, and large parking lot make for an ideal setting to learn and practice swing dancing. For our Intermediate/Advanced Class, we usually select music in the 140-160 BPM range, with sessions varying with new moves every session to help people expand their dance repertoire and enhance their swing dancing skills. We focus primarily on teaching Social Lindy Hop moves as well as putting it all together for the age range of teens to adults (up into their 70's). So solo jazz moves are not normally taught. Moves will range from the relatively easy to 1 or 2 complex/advanced moves, as well as variations to suit those that can use the modifications. The goal is to provide moves, and tempos of music, to allow students to come away with at least a good degree of satisfaction with what they learned. We also provide recap videos of all moves to the students so they can practice during the week, and we do reviews of the previous moves the following week to reinforce what the students have learned. A half hour practice time between the Beginner & Intermediate Classes is provided so that all students can practice together with DJ music along with answering any questions that the students may have if they did not feel comfortable asking during class. All of these moves can then be performed at much faster tempos once the students master them.
