Workshops with NASU YAKBAI @ Zabor Dance

Salsa, Cha-cha, Bachata and More!!!! NASU YAKBAI COMES BACK TO CHARLOTTESVILLE! That's right! Nasu Yakbai will be back at Zabor Dance to teach a full day of workshops on Saturday, November 7. You definitely don't want to miss this rare opportunity. Pre-registration is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. His workshops fill fast, and will work on a first come, first served basis. This time he will teach 4 different classes: 1. Salsa from 12:45-1:45 PM, 2. Passion-Cha from 1:45-2:45 PM, 3. Bachata, Blues, & Partner Hip-Hop from 3-4 PM, and 4. De Uno a Dos from 4-5 PM. Details about each class are coming soon. 1) SALSA (Turn patterns, choreography, and body movement) from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. If you liked the last workshop in September, you'll love the fresh and innovative choreography presented in this workshop. Students will experience current turn patterns and body movement presented in a fun and engaging format! 2) PASSION-CHA (a new school look at old school Cha-Cha) From 1:45 to 2:45 p.m. Instead of the typical, occasionally boring, one, two, cha cha cha, learn the REAL deal behind the rhythms and passion of cha cha. It's MUCH slower than salsa and therefore requires attention to detail and body control. Learn the art of this close, sultry dance in the spirit of it's history, pre-1950's Cuba. 3) BACHATA, BLUES & PARTNER HIP-HOP (Modern close-embrace Club dancing) from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. We all know of Tango as the quintessential close-embrace traditional dance, but today's clubs play a mix of Bachata, Regaton, Hip Hop and R&B...music that makes most social dancers clear the floor like cockroaches in the daylight. In this very practical class, learn how to dance with anyone to just about anything they play in clubs that's downtempo. Better yet, learn how to do that WHILE connected to a partner. Ladies, learn how to enjoy close embrace while avoiding leg humpers; men, learn how to lead any lady while keeping her comfortable and intrigued. 4) De UNO a DOS (Take your SALSA to the next level from on 1 to on 2) from 4 to 5 p.m. There is SUCH a misperception that learning on2 is difficult...even more so for a seasoned on1 dancer, yet worldwide, most of the world's BEST salsa dancers prefer to dance on2 even if they're proficient on1. Learn the rhythm structures and leg mechanics that'll make converting from on1 to on2 a breeze! Please bring an open mind a a true willingness to learn this advanced flavor of salsa. Open to all levels. You don't have to be advanced to get the get the concepts or movement in this class. In fact this class can only benefit your understanding of the music and ability to be beat ambivalent. Each independent workshop is $15 per person at the door.
