Workshops with Oriel Toledo from Buenos Aires June 6 - 7, 2015

***But who is Oriel?*** Oriel Toledo from Argentina is one of the most unique beings I have met on my tango journey, and together with the Itscoldupnorthdancetango team, we're looking forward to help him share his knowledge with the tango community of Göteborg. Oriel began dancing tango in 1996 in Buenos Aires with Laura Rosen, and continues learning from many other inspirational figures in the history of tango such as Susana Miller, Ana Maria Schapira and Plazaola, and later with Sergio and Alejandra Arrué. He also worked as as assistant to Corina de la Rosa and Julio Balmaceda, and later with Milena Plebs. Oriel helped to grow a flourishing tango communites in Bologna, Italy, and Switzerland by creating tango schools offering regular courses, as well as organizing intensive workshops with guest artists from all over the world. Along with tango, Oriel has a rich background exploring other disciplines, such as martial arts (especially Aikido), modern dance, contact improvisation technique, circus arts and theater. Oriel's research into the learning process, and background from other discplines has helped him to develop a unique teaching method that transmits the technique required for tango through an enhancement of the natural abilities of perception, imagination, and individual expression. What I love about Oriel is that he is always learning, exploring, investigating, growing, and sharing, as an artist, a social dancer, and as a human being. Sensitivity is a measure of how alive we are, as human beings, and dancers. In this seminar, we will understand and feel how our bodies move naturally. We will then explore the effect of Action and Reaction of a movement in tango.
