Structure: Express Workshops followed by 2 hours of social dancing with The Rhythm Revellers best DJs!
Express Workshops will run similar to a round-robin. We’ll have 4 sets of teachers offering 4 different workshops. The attendees will be split up into 4 groups, and each group will work with a set of Rhythm Revellers teachers for 15 minutes before rotating through to the next teaching couple with a different class topic. If you’ve been to one of our teaching events before, you’ll know how great these sessions are. Our teachers are adept at teaching to a range of different experience levels so that you will get the most out of the workshops, no matter how long you’ve been dancing. Workshops are opt-in, with further detail on the topics and teachers posted to The Rhythm Revellers Instagram and Facebook Page soon.
Giving:
You will notice that we have the option for you to post a donation when purchasing your ticket. We invite you to give a bit extra to The Black Lindy Hoppers Fund if you can spare it. The Black Lindy Hoppers Fund’s mission is to “provide assistance to established and developing dancers, musicians, researchers and community builders endeavoring to be of greater service to community members of African and African diasporic heritage.”
You can read more about this important and worthy cause here: https://blacklindyhoppersfund.org
** For every dollar raised by you to The Black Lindy Hoppers Fund, The Rhythm Revellers will match this amount and donate it to Pay the Rent.
The Rhythm Revellers recognise that we are dancing on Aboriginal land, and that sovereignty was never ceded. Pay the Rent, a collective based on the lands of the Kulin Nation in Victoria, Australia. Rent payments are payments made for the use and benefit of occupying Aboriginal land, and a mechanism of restitution. Pay The Rent’s constitution requires it to use rent solely for the purpose of promoting the self-determination, economic independence and welfare of Aboriginal people.
