A warm welcome awaits a special Yuletide matinee milonga I am running at a brand new venue. The Thomas Cranmer Centre in the village of Aslockton is not far from the A52 and A46 and is gorgeous new building with high vaulted ceilings, gothic arched windows, surround sound, and a fantastic wooden floor with underfloor heating It will make a very atmospheric space to dance as an alternative to Beeston Parish Church which does not hire out to the third parties between Christmas and new year. There is no class this time - just some nice food, and a chance to socialise and dance, The first hour will feature different types of music to get you in the party mood and the last four hours will be the best carefully chosen traditional tango music mostly from the 30s, 40s and 50s with a snow dusting of the most popular contemporary orchestras for a bit of Christmas spice. Event schedule 2pm to 3pm Buffet and dancing to alternative music, including jive, salsa and alt tango no tandas. 3pm to 7pm - traditional tango in tandas. Tanda projections. TDJ Lisa The buffet is usually very popular and on a "first come first served basis". I advise being there earlier rather than later. It is a great help to me in terms of catering if you could let me knowing if you are coming at least four days before the milonga by marking yourselves as "going" rather than just "interested" or messaging me with an RSVP. Entry £15 - Exact cash please or contactless on the door. You could get in free if you can help me set up at 1pm and help me keep on top of the plate clearing during the event. There is a dishwasher and a well equipped kitchen which makes life a lot easier for me 😁 and anyone who can help. The venue is four miles from Saxondale junction of the A46 dual carriageway and A52. It is also walking distance from the Aslockton Railway Station with trains to Nottingham and Grantham. The trains from Nottingham leave at 12:50 13:50, 14:50 and 14:49 with a return at 19:04. Trains from Grantham, which is on the mainline to London, leave at 12.45 (next two trains are fully booked), and there is a return at 18.10 or 20.04.
