He has taught in Washington DC, Boston and Istanbul, Turkey, and for a short period in Valencia, Spain. Before Zouk, Ocho was a Kizomba instructor for 2 years. Overall he has 10 years of experience in Latin partner dances and 4+ years of teaching Brazilian Zouk. Ocho fell in love with Zouk when he attended and taught a Kizomba workshop at the DC Zouk Festival in 2016. Shortly afterward, he began learning Zouk fundamentals from Ry'el and Jessica at the 2016 NY Zouk Festival Dare to Zouk program. Inspired by William Teixeira and Paloma Alves, Ocho traveled to the Netherlands annually to attend the Dutch International Zouk Congress to train with them and other renown instructors. In the Netherlands, he had the opportunity to learn from the top Zouk artists at the time, including Jaime Aroxa, Renata Peçanha, William Teixeira, Xandi Liberato, Val Clemente, Pasty, Gert Faber, and so many more. In October 2018, he completed the Dutch International Zouk Congress teachers course with Jaime Aroxa, Renata Peçanha, Adilio Porto, the founders from Rio of Zouk Lambada, and received a certificate of completion. Ocho has a deep understanding of dance connection, variations of traditional Zouk technique, follow styling, and musicality. His explanations are often philosophical and centered on his own Be One Methodology for deep dance connection. His dynamic Brazilian Zouk style includes soft close embrace dance, advanced musicality, and high-energy circular turn patterns and movements.
