Mesmes & Juanma ----- ENGLISH ----- Start to dance zouk and get ready to party! If you already dance bachata, salsa, WCS, kizomba, or other social dances, this is the intensive course for you. PROGRAM July 31 - August 4 Monday: 19-22h zouk class Tuesday: 19-22h zouk class Wednesday: break Thursday: 19-22h zouk class Friday: 19-22h zouk class + from 22h zouk party The classes will be in English with Hungarian translation if needed. TEACHERS JUANMA from Argentina & MESMES from Budapest JUANMA started dancing in 2010. He was born and raised in Argentina where he has played an important role in developing the Zouk scene teaching Lambazouk, Brazilian Zouk, and organizing social events. His favourite dance is Brazilian Zouk, but he also teaches Lambazouk and Bachata Sensual. He also has training in many other dances including hip hop, breakdance, contemporary, ballet, salsa and mambo on 2, tango and samba de gafiera. Juanma Ponce is a well-renowned teacher with many years of experience as well as being a great dancer and teacher of teachers. He is a warm-hearted spirit who loves to help others learn how to dance. He did a teachers course in Rio de Janeiro in 2018 for Zouk. He was training and working with a salsa and bachata company. He has also trained ballet and contemporary dance from 2015 to 2017. Since 2017, he has been traveling to Europe, teaching weekly classes in Copenhagen, Odense (DK) and Marseille (FR) and also teaching workshops in different European countries: Denmark, Sweden, Netherlands, France and Spain. In 2019, he was selected among other four couples as a new zouk talent in the Rising Star Contest 2019 – Canada Zouk Congress. That same year, he won 1st place at the Jack & Jill competition in BDF Amsterdam 2019. Finally, in December of 2021, he got the best score in MAC Project (Brazilian Zouk teachers’ course by Alex de Carvalho). He is passionate about training and training people, but was he loves the most is to spread the Zouk Connection, musicality and basics putting focus in leading and following techniques, adding feelings and extra connection to our partners. His dream is to travel the world making people happy with his passion about dancing. MESMES [Mash-Mash] is dancing social partner dances since 2004. Since 2013, also Brazilian zouk. She would like to introduce this wonderful dance to you, which has so much creative potential, helps you to connect to your soul and that of others, and opens a way to such beautiful feelings and states. Mesmes is a lover of music and dance since childhood. After rhythmic gymnastics, aerobics, organizing and choreographing a school dance group and some hip-hop dancing, she turned to ballroom dancing around 2004, then continued with salsa, boogie-woogie and west coast swing, with a 2 year belly dance detour. Already in high school, she got behind the decks to play music at a party. In 2010, she started playing salsa at the Parkett Klub, where she also contributed as organizer, and later played at ceroc and west coast swing nights. Almost 10 years ago, in 2013, she became attracted to kizomba and Brazilian zouk. This fascination has continued ever since. 🙂 She first studied zouk in budapest with Ronaldo Magalhaes de Aguiar, then in 2015, she started going to festivals abroad and started organizing zouk parties, where she got back behind the decks as a zouk DJ. She has become more and more involved in music, started producing remixes, and is now invited to play at international events. In the meantime, she also began to pursue a path of self-discovery and spirituality, taking up yoga and tantra, which has significantly transformed her outlook and understanding of life. “I think dance, like yoga or martial arts, is also a path of self-awareness, so it’s a path worth pursuing with conscious presence, and one of the best ways to connect with the present moment, with yourself and with your fellow human beings. This is the awareness and feeling I want to awaken, to transmit through zouk dance and exercises in my classes, and to help pave the way to deeper connections and dance experiences.” CONTRIBUTION & APPLICATION All passes include 12 hours of zouk classes and the celebration party at the end of the course.
