ZOUK FLING - Official BZDC JnJ Competition (+Workshops Party)

A TWO DAY EVENT! At the end of the year UKDC will be hosting the first ever official Zouk JnJ competition in the UK at the wonderful 'Park Inn, Heathrow' in partnership with 'New Years Swing Fling' (WCS event). We have teamed up with the the Brazilian Zouk Dance Council to host an amazing event and the chance for you to earn BZDC points. On top of this we are excited to announce that we are flying in Kadu Pires & Larissa Thayane to teach 3 hrs of intensive workshop to give you plenty of competition tips and techniques! - They don't come to the UK much so we're extremely excited to have them. ...and obviously we will finish the night with a MEGA ZOUK PARTY until 6am!.. TWICE! --- Event Schedule: Saturday 28th Dec: 12:15pm - 1:45pm & 2:15 - 3:45pm - Kadu & Larissa workshops 4pm - 5.30pm - Competition registration and break. 6:30pm - 9pm - Competitions (JnJ & Open strictly) & Awards 10pm - 6am - Non-Stop Dancing!! Sunday 29th Dec: 10pm - 6am - Zouk party! (Use the spa facilities in the hotel during the day!) We will be hosting 2 different types of competitions - you may enter just one, both or simply watch and support. 1- Jack & Jill (J&J) 2 - Strictly (Fixed Partners) ---- 1- JACK & JILL COMP INFO What is a JnJ and how does it work? You would enter as a Leaders or a Follower and you will be judged individually each round, until the 'final' where you will be judged as a couple. There are generally 3 songs per round (to dif styles of music) and you will switch partner after every song. Depending on the amount of people entering there may be several heats, and normally a Prelim, a Semi's and a final. We will be hosting a 'Novice' JnJ comp (and potentially an 'intermediate' if we have lots of international competitors with 'BZDC intermediate points'). How do I know which category/ division I should enter? If you have never competed before, even if you have been dancing for a long time, you must start in the novice category and earn your way through the ranks. The more you compete at events and the better you do, the more 'points' you will be rewarded. What are BZDC points and what can I win? BZDC points are the official point scoring system which is recognised across the world. Every official event will award points which will be uploaded to a central system online. You can see your friends scorings and your own scores and points uploaded. The more competitors there are, the more points you can receive. You need a certain amount of points to progress through Novice to intermediate to advanced to All star level. (Depending on the size of the event there may also be some money up for grabs!) ---- STRICTLY COMPETITION INFO In short, the Strictly competition is where you enter with a fixed partner and you are judged as a couple. The format is very similar to the jack and jills with normally 3 songs per heat and generally a Prelim, semi and a final. What can I win and do I still get points? The top two or three winners will receive trophies and congress/ event passes. Depending on how big the competition is you may also win money. There are no BZDC points awarded in a strictly competition. Stricklys are generally more relaxed, and a great way to push your dancing and practise with someone who you feel familiar dancing with. All competitions are completely freestyle and no choreography is allowed.
