About this Event
This workshop is designed for people with little or no experience (yet) in Brazilian Zouk but is also suitable for improvers who wish to work on their basics with some added challenges. EVERYONE is welcome, independant of experience, age, gender! EVERYONE can learn it!
We will go through the basics, at a level that everyone can follow, and will make sure that by the end of the day you understand the basics of the dance.
For improvers, this is a chance to clean up your basics and get some added challenges to help your technique and improve your musicality and creativity. We will give you different assignments based on your level, to make sure that you are learning something new.
This is NOT one of those workshops where you are shown a combination and are expected to remember a lot of things. We will work a lot with bringing out your strengths and giving you personal feedback to help you quickly understand the basics in a fun and relaxed environment.

ABOUT BRAZILIAN ZOUK
Brazilian Zouk is a partner dance that is growing all over the world at the moment. It has only been in Europe now for about 20 years, and it is constantly growing and evolving. Traditionally, it was danced to Zouk music from the Caribbean, but now it can be danced to a variety of music, including R&B, pop, hip hop, and Kizomba, which makes it very versatile. Brazilian Zouk is known for its flowing, expressive and sensual movements. It is a dance with focus on trust and connection between the dancers, which can be tactile (connecting through touch), visual (connecting by looking at one another) or both at the same time. Both closed and open embrace are used in the dance, and sometimes the dancers also dance without physical connection.

THE TEACHERS
Caroline (DK) has many years of experience in dance, but her favorite dance is Brazilian Zouk. She dances and teaches Brazilian Zouk, High Heels, Modern, Modern jazz, Jazz, Contemporary, Improvisation and Ballet. She has been teaching and organizing Zouk in Copenhagen for two years, despite living in Holland. She lives in Amsterdam, where she is doing a Bachelor in teaching dance at the School of the Arts (AHK). She has taught Zouk at international congresses, for example Berlin Zouk Congress, Amsterdam Zouk Congress and St. Valentine’s Dance Weekend and has worked with artists like Ailton Silva, Eric Louw, and Adilio Porto. Her current dance partner is Mustafa Kocer, and they teach Brazilian Zouk together in the Netherlands, in Denmark and at international events.
Mustafa (TUR) met Caroline almost two years ago and fell in love with Zouk. He has a background in Ballroom dance as well as Salsa and Bachata, but now focuses mainly on Brazilian Zouk. He continues to improve himself by also taking classes in modern, contemporary, jazz and hip hop, and uses inspirations from these styles in his Zouk.
