You will learn what you'll need to enjoy dancing zouk socially and it will preprare you for talking intermediate and advanced level zouk courses. The level 3 course is for people with a solid dance background (not necessarily zouk). To make sure you'll fit in, auditions will be kept at the beginning of the first and second class. The class will teach concepts on three levels: guiding dance principles, zouk dance technique and dance patterns. The patterns are the least important part of the class but they be will be intermediate/advanced, directly learned from Renata Pecanha in Rio. To learn how to properly do the patterns, we will constantly refer back to the learned principles and techniques. For the forth class, Sunday, the 5th, there will be a special 3 hour workshop. The first 1.5 hours will be a body movement class taught by a top class teacher from NYC (more details later). He will rock your world with concepts borrowed from ballroom, salsa and many other dance disciplines. The special Sunday workshop will take place in San Jose from 6-9pm. It is included in the price for level 3 students. Other students will be able to attend for a fee. Carpools will be arranged. A link to all the details about the Sunday event will be posted here before end of day Monday, Jan 16th. Teachers: Anthony and Collyane Umina are the main zouk teachers in the Bay Area. They are reponsible for the fast growing zouk cummunity in the bay area. They tirelessly teach 5 days a week all they way from San Jose to San Francisco. DAN AND NIA Dan and Nia for will join Anthony and Collyane and teach side by side with them. Nia started dancing 3 years ago under DJ Yen (Jean Goh) of Zouk Dance Academy in Singapore. She has been obsessively pursuing zouk, from Kuala Lumpur, Czech Republic, Los Angeles and San Francisco. Known for being highly animated while failing to appear sexy doing it; approach with caution. Dan has been dancing salsa for more than 6 years, competing in various events ranging form the Salsa Us Open to the World Latin Dance Cup. Over the past year he caught the zouk bug and has been traveling the world to take endless privates with the likes of Renata Pachaha from Rio, Leonardo Bilia and Catherine Pereira from NYC, Shani from LA and Anthony & Collyane from SF. He will teach with Nia starting February.
