This month we're introducing a new leveled class that focuses on elasticity & connection, in addition to our advanced head movement training team. Our schedule for the month is: 6:30 - 7:30: Zouk Fundamentals (Beg/Int) 7:45 - 8:45: Elasticity & Connection (Int/Adv, assessments req'd) 9:00 - 10:15: Head Movement Training Team (Adv+, assessments req'd) Signup link coming soon! ---- Dates: Fridays, May 5, 12, 19 This month's cycle is shorter than usual because we'll be attending YoZouk congress! Pricing: $20 per class (Fundamentals or Elasticity) $30 per class (Head Movement) $45 for 3 wks (Fundamentals or Elasticity) $75 for 3 wks (Head Movement) Bundles: $30 for both Fundamentals & Elasticity (single day) $40 for all levels (single day) $75 for both Fundamentals & Elasticity (3 wks) $100 for all levels (3 wks) Note that our non-fundmentals levels require students to pass assessments in order to continue past the first class. You may pay after class if you need to do assessments! ------ About our new level on Elasticity & Connection - For those who haven't trained with me (Eddie) before, I have a unique framework for understanding the lead/follow connection in zouk, which gives dancers an amazing ability to create support & elasticity. One of my dreams is to help the greater zouk community dance more in this way, and make our dances even more smooth & comfortable! This level is suitable for dancers who have a solid grasp of the most common moves in zouk and can lead or follow on-time with the music. If you're unsure of whether you're ready for this level, you can come to the first class and do your assessment - we'll give you feedback on where you need to improve if you're not yet ready. ---- Learning to dance is hard, and Zouk is a particularly challenging dance at that, so we took it upon ourselves to create a comprehensive curriculum that takes you from zero dance experience to having an in-depth understanding of the mechanics of Zouk. Students should expect to spend an average of 3-6 months at each level before advancing, depending on their level of prior dance/movement experience. Note that all of our levels except fundamentals require students to pass assessments in order to continue past the first class. For us, zouk is about connection & expression, not the moves. We teach moves, obviously, but rather than making you memorize where to step and where to hold, we care that you understand how to use the lead/follow connection in zouk to create the desired movements. We'd much rather spend a whole class on just one move rather than give you several 8-counts of moves that you'll forget as soon as you walk out the door (although we typically move as fast as the class can keep up with).
