We will listen to both ourselves and each other and achieve greater clarity and playful simplicity in movement. We begin from the body’s fluid ground, from the fluid, volume and membranes of the cells. We connect this with the body’s nervous system, the central and peripheral nervous system. What dance creates the oscillation between rest and movement, between sensation and movement, and how does it change your perception of yourself, of space? You can expect to move from your inner living body to relating to, shape and move in interaction with the spaces around you. The tone of the class is exploratory and through anatomical knowledge, visualization, somatization, hands-on exercises, communication through touch, improvisational scores, Birgitte Lundtoft facilitates a listening, caring and playful movement class with inspiration from her studies in Body-Mind Centering(r). ABOUT Birgitte Lundtoft Birgitte Lundtoft (she/her) is a dancer, choreographer and somatic movement teacher based in Copenhagen. ‘As a dancer, choreographer and facilitator I create learning environments, performance installations and place- and process specific works that cultivate a language that paints with tactile, visual and moving articulations. I use somatic movement methods and practices as a point of departure from where the work grows its visceral texture in interaction with place. The work explores themes, formats and concepts such as radical softness, weaving of body and place, exploring non linear and polyrhythmic networks of things and beings.’ She holds a degree in Dance & Choreography from Danish National School of Performing Arts and is currently studying Body-Mind Centering® (2022 till ongoing) and Psychology. www.instagram.com/birgittelundtoft/ --- ABOUT the Axis Syllabus The Axis Syllabus is a somatic approach to dance and movement technique and a collection of knowledge for learning, researching and experiencing movement. This includes moving with anatomical relationships, physics, bio-tensegrity, ongoing multi-disciplinary research, movement analysis and transmission. An Axis Syllabus class aims to create a collaborative learning environment and effective space for personal research. The A.S. was founded by Frey Faust, now based in Italy. ABOUT Sebastian Grubb Sebastian Grubb is an award-winning dance artist and movement coach based in Copenhagen and California. After a multi-year mentorship with Frey Faust, Sebastian became a certified Axis Syllabus Teacher in 2011, and began teaching biomechanics and functional anatomy principles within a dance context. In 2018 he founded Agile Beast, an updated fitness training program that integrates modern biomechanics with foundational movement patterns. And in 2019 he co-founded Spiral Camp with Shira Yaziv.
