Beyond Basics CI Class Exploring with your Eyes

This class we will be researching different ways to engage with what we see, through: 1. attending (various ways to engage our sight) 2. witnessing yourself and the other(s) 3. orienting & directing the body through vision 4. the power of eye contact during the dance. CONTRIBUTION General · $30 Supported · $10 ABOUT DOREEN: Doreen Ooi has been deeply immersed in Contact Improvisation since 2022, dancing and exploring the form in vibrant CI communities across major cities including New York, Cologne, Paris & London. She is currently based in Melbourne and has the pleasure of dancing and teaching regularly in Sydney. Her passion for CI seeds from its boundless potential to explore the physics of the body and varied states of being and perception. As a martial artist and musician, her CI is deeply influenced her perception of the form through the lens of chinese martial arts, Capoeria and rhythm. Aside from teaching, her involvement in the CI community extends to being the editor of the australian CI magazine <proximity>, co-founder of Øsmøsis, and co-host of the Melbourne Monthly Underscore.
