About this Event

for English scroll down Ground & Relate - Szomatikus, kontkat/improvizáció-fokuszú mozgásműhely-sorozat Gábor Julival (English friendly) Hogyan segíthet a mozgás abban, hogy stabilabbnak, kapcsolódóbbnak és otthonosabban érezzük magunkat a testünkben? Számos táncforma gyakorlása mellett fő fókuszában kezdettől fogva a kontaktimprovizáció áll, amelyben körülbelül 25 év tapasztalattal rendelkezik. In English: Ground & Relate - A somatic, contact/improvisation-focused movement series with Juli Gabor How can movement help us feel more grounded, connected and at home in our bodies? How do we find support within ourselves, connect with others, and stay responsive to what is happening around us? Ground & Relate is a movement and improvisation-based workshop series exploring these questions through somatic practices, dance, Contact Improvisation and instant composition. Grounding, connection and awareness will be recurring threads throughout the series. We will explore how we relate to the floor, to gravity, to ourselves and to each other, and how these relationships can influence the way we move, perceive and respond. Each session begins with a check-in and an introduction to the theme of the day. From there, we move into a variety of guided and open-ended practices: solo, duet and group improvisation, sensory exploration, partner work and reflection. Sometimes we will move with music, sometimes in silence; sometimes slowly and attentively, sometimes dynamically and playfully. We will also explore how individual movement becomes part of a larger moving system — developing awareness, listening and responsiveness within a group. We practice sensing both ourselves and the collective, and discover how movement can emerge through relationship rather than from the individual alone. The classes draw from my background in psychomotor therapy, somatic movement, Contact Improvisation, dance and bodywork. We will move in and out of the floor, developing strength, mobility, coordination and sensitivity while exploring different qualities of movement. There will be space for both activity and rest, structure and spontaneity, introspection and interaction. Movement and dance are at the heart of the classes, while reflection gives us an opportunity to notice and make sense of our experiences. At times we may reflect on our own, write, or share in small groups or with the whole group. And there is room for the full spectrum of being human: we might sweat, laugh, get curious, become quiet, feel challenged, or even shed a tear. All of it is welcome. The sessions are 2 hours long. We will begin with three open classes, with the intention of forming a closed group towards the end of autumn. No previous movement experience is required — only curiosity and an interest in exploring the rich territory of the body, movement and connection. I’m very much looking forward to moving and exploring together! Gábor Juli (HU/AT) is a dancer, dance educator, holistic dance educator and bodyworker, based in Vienna and Budapest.
